Italy was fabulous -- I went in October for my 30th Birthday and of course, loved it so much, I went back for New Year's. The villa we rented in Segromigno in Monte, just outside of Lucca was gorgeous. 17th century farmhouse, surrounded by olive groves and grapevines, gravel paths and cypress trees in rows.

We had a excellent stay at Casa Rossa. The only disappointment was that the pool was not available for the whole time we were there. (Pool was covered up)

This truly was a new and enjoyable vacation experience for us living in a peaceful Tuscan village. Stores, great restaurant, post office, bank, bakery and butcher shop are all just steps away from the villa. Being located in central Tuscany made visiting important sites very convenient. The villa is stunning. The views are spectacular. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. We were impressed. The pictures online do not do the reality of the villa justice. The bathrooms were large and the showers were very accomodating. My husband is 6'8 and he had no problems using the shower. The water and water pressure on the showers was great and we never ran out of hot water. We took advantage of the bus stop in Grassina to travel into Florence - highly recommended! The cooking class at the villa is excellent and was greatly enjoyed. We also went on a winery tour that is also highly recommended. If time permits, travel on 222 down to Siena. It is a great ride with lots of beautiful scenery and many quaint towns (Greve, Gretti). Siena is something that should not be missed - it is a walled midevil city that is a must see.
What can I say about Sergio and Stephano?? To say they are the absolute best hosts you would wish and hope for is an understatement! We rented the entire villa and had our wedding there. It was the greatest time of our lives and all who attended agree we were treated like royalty. We came based on a leap of faith and departed with a lifetime of memories and life long friends.¿Recomendaría esta propiedad a un amigo? Sí

The villa is wonderfully located for touring - the people of the village are friendly and very helpful - shopping for daily supplies is convenient - all in all, a superior travel experience with comfort and great communication with owners, Marina and Francesco!

Rosa dei Venti (Alisep Cottage) was absolutely gorgeous, so tastefully decorated and immaculately clean. It was everything the description stated and more. The view from the terrace was breathtaking. Stefano and Barbara were extremely warm, helpful and hospitable. We especially enjoyed the cooking class and dining with the Micheli family and the other guests. It was the perfect ending to a perfect week. I truly hope we will be able to return some day and I would definitely recommend this villa to my friends and family.

Perfect place for large groups, or a small group (using one of the apartments on the property). Not the place for people who want an active night life - very quiet, and designed for one who wants a nice, peaceful visit to Tuscany to absorb the local flavor and countryside. You MUST have a car if you want to stay here. This property is an A+ property, in all respects. Worth every penny!

We had nothing short of a great time for the week that we were there. The villa, the owners, the village, the people in the village, the ease and closeness to plenty to see and do without being too "touristic", the food, the wine, the scenery - it was excellent. Brush up on your Italian a bit, and meet the locals. Not a place if you want to be entertained or on the tourist trail, but excellent if you want to experience a bit of Tuscany as the Tuscans do. I personally liked the location at the top of the mountain. The views were breathtaking. The restaurant served a good variety and it was all freshly prepared. The location is centrally located relative to the sites to visit.

Staying at Casa di Vignolo was like being on a movie set. The little square this wonderful old home is in is very beautiful and the feeling is that you are not a tourist in some resort but an actual resident for just that short period of time.
There is a small market, a bakery and a deli where you can find anything you may need in the way of supplies. Also, in Montevarchi there is a large supermarket for anything that cannot be found in the village.
If you have a car, it is centrally located for day trips to pretty much anywhere you want to visit in the Toscana area and very close to Montevarchi and Arezzo, both of which have rail stations for day trips to Florence or other cities that are too congested to drive into.
Francesco, Marina and their two lovely sons were the perfect hosts. Our only regret is that we crammed so much into our week we were not able to join them for a cooking lesson. Next time we will certainly include that in our visit.
All in all, this was a magical vacation thanks in a large part to this lovely home and village.
