The hosts were wonderful, the property clean, and the town charming. Loved that the bakery, butcher, produce market, grocer and restaurant were within a block - and that the experience was very truly local. We were the ONLY non-locals in the restaurant both nights we ate there.
We scored a cooking class with Marina and another couple staying with them. We had a BLAST cooking in her kitchen and dining with their family. Make this part of your stay if you can.
La Miccia is a lower level apartment so delightfully cool, but a bit dark. The hot tub is not "hot" by most american standards, and seems a little odd in the middle of the living room, but everything else was great. If you want a special holiday we can strongly reccomend Casa Ivan. The pictures and reviews mean you arrive and it feels as if you have stepped into your dream holiday. The warmth and generosity of the owners made us feel so welcome and "at home". If you can learn even a little Italian it will be much appreciated by the Italian people. If not then be prepared to speak like the Italians do - use lots of hand gestures! It's hard to explain how the family show you a side of Italy that makes the holiday so magical without giving too much away of the love they give.
You will find certainly find Cortona a very friendly area.
We had no car so used the bus or walked. The bus runs into Cortona at 7.10am, 15.10pm and approx 18.45pm and returns at 14.10 and 17.45hrs (no last bus on Sat and no buses Sun). The bus takes approx 10 minutes and links with buses to the train station (again only 10 mins) as well as buses to other places. We walked into Cortona a few times and it takes about an hour - the road winds gently into Cortona and the views are amazing but be sure to take care and look out for traffic although the road is not that busy. If you are visiting the tombs or museums be sure to check out the opening hours before setting out - we were caught out a few times. If walking look out for the strada basilata (the Roman roads). Walk up to Portole which is just half an hours walk. The little bar sells groceries too and is a very cheap place to have a drink. The hotel too is reasonable and friendly and the village has an active social life which seems to centre around the hotel/bar. We found leaflets there and were able to join in an organised free walk and watch a mountain bike race.
Catching the first bus we were able to have days out in Florence and Castiglione del Lago (mkt day Wed) by catching the train in Camucia. Train travel is cheap and we were able to be back in time for the last bus and still see quite a lot. Be sure to validate your ticket in the yellow machines at the station before boarding the train. Tickets for the bus can be bought at the tourist information centre or at tobacconists. Tickets for the train can be bought at the station or at the tourist information centre and are valid for 2 months on an open ticket. If travelling down on the overnight sleeper from Paris we suggest booking to Florence outward and from Rome on your return. Leave your luggage at the station and explore the cities before your onward journey to the villa or home.

Very nice complex with a couple of appartments. The buildings seem to have been an old Tuscany farmhouse. Beautifully restored interior. Everything you would need, even if you plan to prepare all your meals yourself (not recommended, you would miss quite a few really good restaurants). There are beautiful views from the property to Panzano, although not from every appartment. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The only (minor) problem is the Chiantigiana (street) on weekends, when vacationers on bikes pass by.

Just loved this villa! Scenery was suburb and Rosado and his father, Ernesto, delightful. Local supermarket owners were unique and helpful. Monterchi was perfect, as were the walks around the property and into the hills behind the villa. Roses around walls, in May, were stunning. Whole experience was just what we were wanting in Tuscany. Rosado took us to Franciscan Monastry which was a highlight. Disappointed that he did not have more time to take us on a longer tour. It had rained a great deal before we arrived, so the walk through the cypress forest was not as planned. Would highly recommend this villa to anyone wishing to experience Tuscany.

We had a wonderfull time in Frantoio Delle Grazie. The appartment is clean and cosy. Great place to spend your holiday!

Très bon accueil. Calme, authentique, bon rapport qualité prix. Bel endroit très bien situé pour séjourner et découvrir la Toscane environnante. La pizzéria situé près du gîte est à recommander.

If you want privacy and your own private view of a castle, La Torre is the place for you.
With no other houses around, you can enjoy plenty of peace and quiet. Luciano, the owner, made us feel very welcome and showed us all the amenities. I would recommend La Torre to my friends.¿Recomendaría esta propiedad a un amigo? Sí

My two daughters and I were very impressed with Lucia and Enrico's family home and it was lovely to hear about the history of Primula. Our hosts were very gracious and helpful insisting on picking us up at the Station and returning us there after our time there. It would have been lovely to have been able to stay longer but our time was limited. The property was clean and inviting with lovely outdoor gardens where we could relax. The roses were just coming into bloom and we could imagine how lovely it would look when in full bloom. The shopping centre and banking were close by. We took a bus trip to Cortona which was most enjoyable. Please thank Lucia and Enrico for allowing us to stay in their wonderful family home. We told them we would love to see them if they ever visited Australia.

This apartment was cozy, and comfortable with a classic Tuscan decor. It looked just like the pictures, and was even roomier. The private patio outside the door was perfect for relaxing and looking over the beautiful farm. The owners who live on site are welcoming, charming and very helpful We really enjoyed the dinner served one evening. It allowed us to meet the other guests from all over Europe. Nearby Castelfiorentino is a good place to catch the train for day trips, or Sienna, San Gigmignano (lovely) and Florence are all within an hour's drive.
