Absolutely everything we hoped and more. The house is well equipped and comfortable, insect screens at all windows for instance means we could get air flow and stay reasonably cool at night. The views from the pool are stunning in all directions, perfectly private and big enough to swim in, plus a decent sized sun-lounging area.

Our hosts were superb, very friendly, could not have been more helpful, met us in Certaldo centre to save us trying to find the property. Their local wine went down very well and our daily visit from Pepe the dog (very well behaved) was a little bonus. Certaldo doesn't attract hordes of tourists yet the old town is the equal of much better known towns. La Saletta restaurant in town was excellent, Pizzeria Maroni for the best pizzas and very reasonable, and for a real treat nearby, Osteria di Casa Chianti with superb food and view of the sunset.

Hire a car, book two weeks, travel around when you feel like it to the many places in easy reach, and swim and sunbathe and read when you don't - perfect.

If you are looking for a great place to relax - here you find it. If you enjoy a nice sourrounding, a pool you really can swim an play in - here you find it. The are is execelletn for relaxing and for culturla activities - a lot to see a lot to taste. Starting with a coffee (italiano) in the next village on the market place, ending with a wine tasting in a monastry nearby. What else do you wnat if you know how to live. TIme for you and the family - no problem. And if anything is missing - ask Gloria, the owner or her husband, both helpfull and charming.

The apartment was very good and the garden and pool fantastic. The owner, who lived on the lower floor, was very friendly and tried to help in any way possible. The biggest problem was that she spoke no English at all so all communication was done via hand signals or google translate. This is not optimal as you cannot ask simple questions and she cannot tell you important things like how to handle trash or how things work. I would recommend having all the practical things in writing in English when you don´t speak the language and are expecting non Italian speakers.

The area was quiet and nice. Cortona was fantastic. Couple of hours drive to Firenze and Pisa if you are up for that.

All in all the experience was very good

Il Ruscello is a really nice house with a great swimmingpool, lots of space, royal bedrooms and bathrooms on the first floor with airco. If you like quietness and the feeling of being away from it all, this is the place to be. Sabina is a great host and a great cook! Make sure you have dinner at her place Le Valli one night. It is just 20 minutes away. And pay a visit to her brothers' Novo Frantoio to buy wine, olive oil and sausages. They are great!
We had a big storm one night and thereby problems with the heating of the water, but Sabina took very well care. If you need anything, she immediately does all she can to help.
