This was a wonderful property and just perfect for me, my two daughters and their two friends. We rented the 3-bedroom apartment for a week in April and found it to be an excellent central location from which to explore the Chianti region, Florence, Arrezo, Sienna, Pisa and other Tuscan towns. The owner Leonardo is very hospitable and helped us plan some of our daily excursions and recommended good places to dine at the end of the day. The property is set in the mountains and is in a peaceful rural location. We found the space was more than sufficient for our needs as we were really only in the apartment at the end of the day since we were using it as a base camp from which to tour. If you just want to rest in the Tuscan sun and take in the vineyards and olive groves, you could be quite happy staying fixed at Castellaccio and reading by the pool and listening to the birds (I saw lots of wildlife on my morning and evening strolls). There is a lovely pool on the property which would be the perfect start and finish of the day (alas we were there in April and it was not as inviting in the cool mountain air of the evenings). If you are planning to have a car and want to be in a remote setting, this is a great place to hide away in the Tuscan countryside but still be well positioned to travel and see many sights. If you aren't cooking for yourself, you want to be aware that you will have to travel 20 minutes or so in most directions to get to places to eat (we found many good options and didn't mind the driving). We would gladly return to Castellaccio and are very pleased with our experience.

This was a great house. It was beautiful, clean, secure and functional. Six adults used it as our base to explore southern Tuscany (and Brunello!). The back yard is perfect for an apero and the dinning room can match any meal you can put together. Best of all, Spuntone is within easy walking of all the restaurants in Montalcino, meaning everyone can taste the local wines without having to have a driver. Viva Spuntone.

Die Wohnung ist sehr geräumig und liegt zentral, nur ca. 100 Meter von der Ponte Vecchio entfernt. Man kann fast alle Sehenswürdig-keiten gut zu Fuß erreichen. Unmittelbar in der Nähe liegt ein sehr gut sortierter Supermarkt. Die Vermieter sind sehr bemüht und sprechen gut Englisch. In der Umgebung gibt es kleinere Cafes, wo man köstliche Mehlspeisen kaufen kann.
Die in den Fotos vermittelte Helligkeit der im ersten Stock liegenden Wohnung findet man in Wirklichkeit nicht vor. Eines der drei Schlafzimmer liegt direkt an der stark befahrenen Straße, wer dort schläft soll sich Ohrstöpsel mitnehmen, dann schläft man gut. Die beiden übrigen Schlafzimmer liegen in Richtung Innenhof und sind deshalb sehr ruhig. Es gibt zwei Duschen und Klos, wobei es bei einer Dusche vereinzelt Probleme mit der Wassermenge gab. Wir waren jedoch im Großen und Ganzen sehr zufrieden und verbrachten herrliche Tage in Florenz.
[English translation courtesy of Easy Reserve] The apartment is very spacious and centrally located, just 100 meters from the Ponte Vecchio. You can reach almost all the sights on foot. In the immediate proximity is a very well stocked supermarket. The owners make great efforts and speak good English. In the area there are small cafes where you can buy delicious pastries.
The brightness of the photos of the apartment on the first floor it is not to find actually. One of the three bedrooms is situated on the busy street, the persons who sleep here should wear ear plugs, then you can sleep well. The other two bedrooms are situated towards the courtyard and are therefore very quiet. There are two showers and two toilets, but there were occasional problems with the water flow in a shower . However, we were on the whole very satisfied and spent wonderful days in Florence.

We had a splendid vacation at Poggio Conca. The house itself is very pleasant, set in a remote and peaceful location in an absolutely stunning environment! Florence, Siena, San Gimignano etc. are easy to reach. If you prefer to stay closer to home, there is a lovely forest right at your doorstep. The house itself is lovely and well kept and has all the conveniences. The last 800m to the house is over a bumpy unsealed road and not suitable for cars with low ground clearance.

WoW! We visited April 9th - April 15th 2011....Party of eight. The villa is totally awesome!! The view is breathtaking. Podere Lo spadino had 4 large bedrooms and all the common space is perfect for a large group....we never felt crowded. We took several day trips: from this point to Florence, Siena, Monaco, Pisa and Cinque Terre. The first night we were greeted by the owners, who were absolutely great!! The meal she prepared for our first evening was the best meal of our vacation. Our only regret is we didn't spend as much time on the property as we would of like to,,,next time we will enjoy the peaceful nature of the farmland of Tuscany!! We highly recommend this villa and hope to return...we already miss the wonderful people of Italy!
